Speak up now to support homemade foods!

Does local, homemade food sound good to you?

There’s a hearing in the House on Cottage Foods (SB 829) this Monday! This bill would give you more access to local, homemade foods by giving cottage food producers the ability to sell directly to co-ops or mom and pop grocers. It would also crackdown on health department officials who are known to harass cottage food producers.

How can you support this bill?

About:

Cottage foods (AKA foods made in a home kitchen for sale) support local farmers who generate more revenue by supplementing fresh produce sales with prepared products that they can sell year-round at a higher profit margin.

The current Cottage Food Law enabled thousands of small businesses to be launched in Texas, but some of the law’s provisions still limit farmers and other entrepreneurs from building a viable business. This is why we need to pass SB 829!
