Federal bills filed

FARFA was one of the founding organizations of the Liberty Ark Coalition, a single-purpose coalition formed for the sole purpose of stopping the NAIS. I sit on the steering committee for Liberty Ark, and we have been working closely with activists in every state.

Thanks to the great work of these activists, Senator Jim Talent and Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson introduced companion bills yesterday which state that the “...Secretary shall not implement or carry out, and no Federal funds shall be used to implement or carry out, a National Identification System, or similar requirement, that mandates the participation of livestock owners.”

This is a huge step forward, but it is just a beginning. Before the bills were introduced, we submitted to the Senator and Congresswoman a list of additional issues that should be addressed in the bill. We were assured that our input will be request as the bills move to hearings, and through the process.

The bills have not yet been assigned a number. They will be posted on the FARFA and Liberty Ark websites as soon as they are available.

This is a clear signal that we are being heard! But if we are to succeed, we need more organizations and many, many more individuals to sign up in support of this effort to eliminate the NAIS. Please make an effort to get your friends and neighbors to visit Liberty Ark’s website (http://libertyark.net) and sign the pledge to stop NAIS.  Encourage them to sign up for FARFA’s mailing list and to become a member.  We’re going to need thousands of people if we are going to be successful in this battle.  The folks who are pushing this plan have tons of money and powerful lobbyists.

Go to the citizens action page on FARFA’s website (http://www.farmandranchfreedom.org/action.html) and download the materials we have there to help you educate others and take action at the local, state, and national levels. You can also get a great CD and brochure at the Liberty Ark website. We have a long way to go before we win this fight, and we need everyone to know about NAIS!
