July 20, 2006: Texas Update

Hello and welcome to the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance e-news alert.  We know you want to stay informed about what is happening with the National Animal Identification System and how you can make a difference.  Feel free to forward this email to your friends and acquaintances.

TOWN HALL MEETINGS

As part of a national effort to raise awareness about the National Animal Identification System, FARFA will host two town hall meetings in Texas during the week of August 7-12.  Please come to these meetings and encourage your friends and neighbors to come.

If you are interested in helping with the meetings, please contact the organizer listed below.  We need people to put out flyers, contact organizations, and help with other preparations.  We need to reach a large audience so that more people will learn the truth about NAIS!

Lockhart, Texas: Tuesday, August 8 at Lockhart High School, 7-9 pm
Contact: Pam Cantwell, equinetouch@ev1.net

Brady, Texas: Thursday, August 10 at the Ed Davenport Civic Center, 7-9 pm
Contact: Suzanne Gasparotto, onioncreek@tennesseemeatgoats.com

Additional meetings are planned for Hempstead and Paris.  If you would like to have a meeting in your area, or have a speaker address your organization, please contact us.

COUNTY RESOLUTIONS

The City of Marshall and two counties – Mills and Harrison – have adopted variations of FARFA’s proposed resolution.  You can download the resolution on our citizens action page at http://www.farmandranchfreedom.org/docs/Resolution-Counties.doc

You can also download a document that explains how to approach your county commissioners and provides support for each and every “whereas” in the resolution at http://www.farmandranchfreedom.org/docs/ResolutionCountiesSupport.pdf

If your county or city adopts an anti-NAIS resolution, please let us know so that we can publicize it!

SUPPORT FARFA’S WORK

If you are not yet a member of FARFA, please consider joining us.  Memberships start at $35/year.   Membership fees and donations support our efforts to educate the public through articles, advertisements, conference tables, and town hall meetings, as well as lobbying at both the state and national level.  Whether you are a farmer or a rancher, a consumer of local foods, or someone who cares about protecting our rights and traditional freedoms, FARFA is working for you!  If you would like to join FARFA, please visit our membership page at http://www.farmandranchfreedom.org/signup.html

Thank you for everything you are doing to help in the fight against the National Animal Identification System!  Working together, we can make our voices heard.
